Gastroenterology Department of Wenzhou People's Hospital is a key discipline in Wenzhou, a key discipline jointly constructed by Zhejiang Province and Wenzhou City, a brand department in Wenzhou, a Master degree candidate training and construction base of Wenzhou Medical University, and a first-class discipline of clinical research discipline in the hospital. Outpatient clinics, wards and gastrointestinal endoscopy center are set up in Xinhe Hospital Area and Louqiao Hospital Area. The total number of beds in the wards is 90. It has 24 physicians, including 4 chief physicians and 6 deputy chief physicians. There are 2 Master degree supervisors, 1 doctor and 14 masters.

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center is equipped with a full set of endoscopic examination and treatment equipment, such as the world’s most advanced Japanese Olympus electronic endoscopy series: electronic gastroscopes, magnifying endoscopes, electronic colonoscopes, electronic duodenoscopes, transnasal gastroscopes, single-balloon small enteroscopes, ultrasonic endoscopes, Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) endoscopes, capsule endoscopes of Jinshan Company, German ERBE electrotomes, anaesthesia equipment, gastrointestinal dynamic detection equipment and other high-end equipment. Much of these equipment are the first to be introduced in this region and the whole province.

In terms of scientific research, our department has undertaken 2 National Natural Foundation projects, 3 provincial and ministerial projects, 3 provincial health planning commission projects, and more than 20 Wenzhou Science & Technology Bureau projects in the past 5 years. We have published more than 10 SCI papers and over 30 first-level, second-level magazine papers. The two Master supervisors of the department have trained more than 10 excellent Master postgraduates for the department itself and Wenzhou Medical University.
